What is Cameron Campus Ministry? At Cameron Campus Ministry, nine denominations have made a covenant together to support the program of Campus Ministry. Catholic, Christian (Disciples), Episcopal, Lutheran, National Baptist, Presbyterian, United Church of Christ, United Methodist and the Unitarian Universalist congregations in Lawton, as well as, Church Women United and Wesley Foundation of Lawton are the organizing institutions for CCM. Students, faculty, and staff are assisted in their formation of Christian values and in their development of vital, healthy, spiritual lives that integrate Christian faith with active witness. Today's students are faced with choosing the vocational, social, ethical, or personal opportunities that set the course of their future. The campus ministry's listening, responding, and walking through the meaning, hopes, and challenges of their journey supports these students and helps build the future. Christian Unity celebrates forty yearsNine communions celebrate 39 years of working together at the Cameron Campus Ministry to witness for Jesus Christ and His church, with a big celebration planned for the 40th year in 2008. Students step into Christian Leadership and provide ministry"Nurture the Spirit, Challenge the Mind is" the motto for Cameron Campus Ministry. Leadership as a spiritual journey for the students, staff and faculty are daily educational experiences. An active Student Leadership Team tackles the challenge with programming to provide nurturing through a weekly Thursday meal that offers not only a "feeding of the body" but a "feeding of the soul". Encouraged in their leadership roles, they provide a ministry of witness and outreach, serving not only the campus ministry unit, but the campus of Cameron University. Weekly programming includes a powerful Tuesday Night contemporary student-led worship, bible study, interpretative visits to area churches, and various activities for fellowship. Students are encouraged into leadership through the Student Leadership Team. These are our leaders of tomorrow. Spiritual Growth provides MinistryCameron University's approximately 6,000 students include one of the highest diversity percentages for Oklahoma regional public and private universities. Students and faculty prepare and serve meals each Saturday for the homeless at St. John’s Baptist Church. They are assisting "Habitat for Humanity" through a chapter on campus formed through the Cameron Campus Ministry. The CCM Board of Directors continues to lead the community in celebration of the Martin Luther King Holiday Celebration. The Center continues to provide meeting space for the both on-campus and off-campus organizations. Christian Service through MissionDuring one week in May each year, Cameron Campus Ministry and other sponsors facilitate mission opportunities to various places in need due to either destruction or proverty. A life-changing experience for students.
